About Dr Adept Essex

David has lived in and around Basildon all his life, and has been "into" computers and digital arts for many years, starting out as a software engineer for Amstrad Brentwood he progressed working in various areas of the I.T. world, including Sales and then Technical Manager at PC World Lakeside, Software Debugging at Camputers Cambridge, Conversion programmer at Infocom USA, Tutor/Lecturer at SEAX Essex as well as Adult Education Centre in Southend, he then decided it was time to start his own business. Dr Adept was created after the closure of SEAX in 1998, after doing some basic training on starting a business he was thrown headlong into the world of small business.

Starting out as a self employed Computer Consultant David installed, fixed and supported his clients computer equipment as well as supplying training to use that equipment and running training courses on Microsoft Office among other packages. Very quickly David took up designing websites for his clients and progressed learning everything he could about the new wave of the Internet phenomenon. Being a coder first and a Designer second David has developed his own Content manager system in response to clients requirements, adapting it to each of their needs. This is an ongoing project which has seen an increase in available time for David and Christina and in many cases a decrease in costs for our clients.

September 2005 saw David and Christina marry, having been together since 1992 it was about time, some people said. Christina decided she has had enough drudgery and stress of working in London and started working with David as SEO and Accountant, she has not looked back since and runs as part of the Dr Adept business.

Christina has worked in London and The Docklands since leaving school, at companies including; Morgan Stanley, Texaco, Readers Digest, Operis and a few local SME's. From admin to accountant to business analyst to running companies. For her; SEO ticked all the boxes for a great job, learning, being challenged every day and being a part of growing businesses.

David loves are walking and photography, watching comedy, action and suspense Films and listening to Kate Bush, Pink Floyd as well as Juliana Meyer music every chance he gets.

Christina can't get enough of learning new things about the universe and how human's evolved and English history, she also loves reading, walking, watching comedy and horror movies and listening to most music.

ADEPT was used in one of my favourite books The Robot Adept series by Piers Anthony.

ADEPT originally came from an adventure game language David created while working with Infocom USA on their Zork adventures.
It was an acronym for ADvanced Environment Program Translator.
